Ready or not, here we go!

Tickets are bought and the dates are set! On Wednesday, Kirk and I depart for our literal trip around the world. The general plan is to go West for ten months: South America, Australia, Southeast Asia, Southern Europe. We are skipping Africa (and Antarctica), to save money, though we’ll come close to both.

We’ve had a lot of people ask about our itinerary, and though there are still many things we don’t have planned out, below is a general idea of when we will be in what region.

South America: December – mid February

  • Bogota, Colombia
  • Quito, Ecuador
  • Buenos Aires, Argentina
  • El Calafate, Argentina (Patagonia, hike W Trek)
  • Santiago, Chile

South Pacific: mid February- March

  • Wellington, New Zealand
  • Travel up to Hobbiton and out of Auckland, New Zealand
  • Several islands of Vanuatu (where Kirk was in the Peace Corps)
  • Cairns, Australia

Southeast Asia: April- mid June

  • Fly into Hong Kong, then travel on land through China,
  • Vietnam
  • Cambodia
  • Possibly Louse
  • Fly out of Bangkok, Thailand

Nepal/India: mid June- mid July

  • Fly into Kathmandu, Nepal
  • Travel on land through India and fly out of Mumbai, India

Istanbul, Turkey: end of July

Southern Europe: August- September

  • Fly into Athens, Greece and plan to travel on land through
  • Italy
  • France
  • Maybe Portugal
  • Fly out of Madrid, Spain

England/Iceland: We have 3 day layovers in these two cities on our final flights home the first week of October

  • London, England
  • Reykjavik, Iceland

Pictures and ponderings will be posted here, so if you’d like to follow along with what’s going on in our lives and brains, swing on by!

For those of you who come for the pictures, here are two of my favorites from our wedding in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico on September 16th :). Extended honeymoon, here we come!
